Robert Howell joined Equal in February 2019 to provide independent assurance services within Equal Assurance.

Robert has a Diploma and Certificate IV of Management, is Lead Auditor trained in Quality (ISO9000) and Environment (ISO14000) and has a number of Certificates Occupational Health & Safety, Supervision, Group Instructional Techniques, First Aid and is a Qualified SCUBA diver to the level of Master Diver with over 150 dives logged.

Robert first became involved with quality systems in 1989 when Alcoa Australia started it its journey towards quality assurance and 9002. Robert was involved in writing documents and implementing them at the shop floor level. In 1996 Robert moved into the Quality System Manager's role within Alcoa and was responsible for both the Kwinana Refinery and the Booragoon Head Office.

In late 2002 Robert joined Activ Foundation as their Quality & Continuous Improvement Coordinator and was instrumental in the implementation of a green fields ISO9001 Quality system. Activ Foundation supports around 3000 people with an intellectual disability within Western Australia, with accommodation services, transport services and meaningful work (Business Services). Robert lead the implementation of the Federal Disability Services Quality Standards for the Business Services, which secured approximately $12m per annum of Federal Government Funding for around 1000 people with a disability in the workforce. During his tenure at Activ Robert rose to the level of Executive General Manager of Corporate Support and managed a team of 30 staff.

Robert joined Divex Asia Pacific (DAP) in 2008 and was accountable for continuous compliance to ISO9001. Divex manufactured deep sea diving systems capable maintaining divers to a depth of up to 500 meters below the surface, which is akin to NASA and Astronauts as both divers and astronauts rely on life support systems to stay alive in alien environments.

Robert left Divex in 2013 and joined Jolly & Sons Transport where he implemented ISO9001 Quality Management Systems, ISO14001 Environmental Management Systems, AS4801 & OHSAS18001 Occupational Health & Safety Management systems & ISO22000 Food Safety Systems. This was also another green fields situation where Jolly & Sons had not been involved in formal accredited systems. Jolly & Sons became an industry leader by implementing business systems to these standards and it became a point of difference, consequently Jolly & Sons won a number of significant contracts in the Oil & Gas sector as well as the Mining sector. The implementation of ISO22000 Food Safety Systems opened the seafood and produce markets throughout WA and the Northern Territory.

Throughout his career Robert has built a reputation with Certification Bodies and his peers in the "Quality" industry.

Robert has since been validated numerous times through external assessments by the Joint Accreditation System of Australia and New Zealand (JAS-ANZ) consistent with ISO 17021, ISO 22003, ISO 27006 and other accreditation criteria.
